Append query data

Hi



I am having issues with a query.
I would like to ammend the query but looks as though it's read only.
My scenario below.

I have a table name_tag with names, sections e.t.c and a box named dot plan.

I have another table named INFO with other data in it.
I have built a query which displays data from both tables which works perfectly.

I would like to append the dot plan info after the query has run make changes and resave the info in the name_tag table.
any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks for replying so quickly.

In the Name_tag table every person has their name and other information stored, also a location number which is the dot plan this dot plan information is 30 location points, the location point is assigned when i know where each person is going e.g. canteen could be location 1, north corrider could be location 20.

When they log on there Tag number is brought up on screen with all the information from the name_tag & INFO tables including the dot plan number, what i am after doing is once logged on change the dot plan at that point and write back the new number to the name_tag table

I hope you understand what i mean.

My interpretation of your post is that you have a non-editable query result. This is common. One can search that topic to see the reasons.

Usually the best/easiest fix for a self described novice is to not join tables in a query - keep the tables separate and instead set up a Main form and a sub form insert.... I do not follow the post in terms of your data structure and so am giving generic advice. Also I should add that the Aggregate query type is never editable.
