Trying to create a database for new job. Not sure if a database is the right way to go about it.

First I just wanted to say hello to the forum my first day and first post to this or ANY FORUM. So I will start the post with some details of what I am posting and what I am trying to accomplish.

    1. I am working for a tier 3 enterprise monitoring team that works Problem tickets.
    2. The tickets are long term project tickets that will be open for anywhere from 1 week to 3 months.
    3. Daily I work many tickets which I update currently through a spreadsheet.
    4. I would like to be able to build a database that allows me to see which tickets I own, if the ticket is pending an action from the customer or myself (this interaction goes back and forth until the ticket is closed.

So I would basically like to build something that allows me to stay organized and on top of my daily tickets that I have already been working on plus the tickets that come in and are assigned to me. The ticketing system we use is not capable of this it simply allows you to pull up your ticket and after many clicks see an action/notes field that is very combersome. So I am not sure if a database is the way to go for a day to day work track/orginization tool. Any ideas? Templates? Please help....

Yes, database is what you need. I have built this very app. (But I don't have)
    easy to build.
basically, a customer table and a ticket table.

Ranman - did you use your database to work on your tickets from day to day? To track the ticket log and activities performed? Can you send me any insight you might have related to building your database?

the tCustTick table also had a default date field of NOW()
also a status field to CLOSE, OPEN.

    use the TicketDate to count/analyze.

Not much info on the data requirements, so here is a lot of database models that might help.

    http://www.databaseanswers.org/data_models/index.htm

    Maybe http://www.databaseanswers.org/data_...ters/index.htm

Do a find (ctl-F) search on "Call" or "Tracking" or maybe "Ticket".

    Also, look at the tutorials.
