Access 2013 size limit is exceeded

I am supporting a VB.net 2010 desktop application that updates Access 2013 database files. I am wondering what the size limit is for the Access 2013 database and individual tables are?

Also if an Access database is too large, what do you do to solve the problem? Do you 'linked servers' Access databases together? Can you tell me what you do to solve the problem with detail directions and/or point me to an applicable url?

2 gig is the typical size limit. 64 bit Access install will allow for larger file size (don't recall the size). Another option may be a free version of SQL server. I think it is 5 gig for the free version. Another option might be Azure SQL database. However, using Azure may cause a latency issue for you. Pretty much, that leaves paid versions of on premises database.

I am sure there are other options but this is what comes to mind.

You can also have more than one Access db, each with the 2 gig limit. So your customer tables are in one db, and your supplier tables in a different one.

How do you have more than 1 Access db? How do you have the 2 access databases share information?

A single front end can connect to multiple DB's.
