    Automation of database

    Dear Professionals and Access enthusiasts!

I have a database created in Access 97 version. It was not being converted to new access versions. So I imported its modules, macros etc by creating another blank database in access 2002. Now I don't know how can I automated it,I mean to make it work as it was working in access 97. The problem is that I cannot install office 97 on my computer.(Core i-3 3220,Windows 8).Can someone do this. The file is attached herewith.

    Best Regards

    Bhatti

What do you mean by 'automation'? How was it working in 97? What do you want to happen? What was it doing in 97 that it is not doing 2002?
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

sounds like all you need to do is set the 'display form' in current database to the name of your initial form. I don't have such an old version of access any more and can't remember the exact path, but probable on the file tab somewhere.

The problem is that the VBA project is corrupt. Specifically, one of the standard modules; not sure which one though.

I had the same problem with A2000. Took me a week to finally recover.
In the meantime...... do you have a backup of "Salary.mdb". Or the original install disk?

I might, and I stress "might" be able to recover "Salary.mdb"... IF I can find my copy of A97.
I will look over the weekend.

    Edit:
Have you contacted the software creator:

to see if they have a newer version?

and no I have not contacted them due to some reasons.
I do not understand this. Are they still in business?

I am torn about what to do with this dB.
You have the right to use the dB, but the dB is corrupt and non-functional. But you haven't contacted the author for help or to see if there is a newer version.

There were several form that were corrupt, as well as a standard module and 6 - 8 reports. The reconnect code in the dB is specific to A97.
I can't find my A97 install disks right now, so I converted the dB to A2000. I had to replace the reconnect code with code for A2000 and later.

Thank you very much ssanfu indeed .You really did great effort I must say the thread is "95% solved" because it is connected showing much of its functionality. the only problem is that the list of reports is missing.I can enter the data, update the record but cannot generate reports now.Again many thanks for your review of the thread.

    I missed a table!

But I just found the form "ReportSetup" is corrupt. I will have to recreate the form. It will take a few days.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
