Designing a Report

In working in Lesson 25 of the tutorials I came across a task


that confused me.

I was asked to design a report as shown:

I am very confused about what to do. The labels and inputs toward the
bottom of the report are not clear.

It seems something was left out. But before I go into that I am having trouble
attaching the image. You can see it above. I am not sure
how to do this.


Any help appreciated.

use the 'go advanced' button in the lower right portion of your screen to attach files to your posts.

I do not know if this does the job. I used manage attachments and
I think that I have attached the file : altair1.gif

Can you see it?

Okay, now you can see it. The final row of boxes except for the first one a txt box, not labels. They are actually combo boxes.
Since I used labels how do I change them to text boxes? Also, from there I guess I can make them combo boxes.

Even if they are combo boxes the down arrow should not appear on any print out you do of this report. If you want to change them to text boxes you can but you will have to modify your query to link to the appropriate table to pull the piece of information you're interested in. I would imagine, just looking at this, that your query has combo boxes in it as well which you have set up using the lookup tab on the table structure. If you've set things up that way it explains the combo boxes on fields you don't want them on for reporting.

Okay, but the last row

"Property #: Condition " and all the rest in that row are now labels. they need to be converted to textbox (with a control source). So how do I d that? Or is
it easier to convert to combo boxes directly?

Apparently you have set lookup on fields in table. Then when you drag a field from the FieldList to form or report (or use wizard to build), the properties set on field in table will be applied, in the case of lookups that is a combobox or listbox, whichever was chosen in the table design.

The image shows 'last row' - the controls in Detail section - as data controls, not labels.

Right click on a control and then select Change To.

Or delete and create new.

If you are talking about the controls in your PROPERTY TYPE header, why do those need to be text boxes, those *should* be labels
the controls in your DETAIL area are text boxes which appears to be correct to me.

The only exception is your PROPERTY TYPE box which appears in the PROPERTY TYPE header so it should accurately appear when a new property type is encountered.
