    Question Access running very slow

Hi there. I am running access 2010 on a network computer. There are 4 computers on our network. The access program is something we helped design and had an "access guy" code. We use it for estimating material for construction jobs. Recently I bought a new computer for my office, and now access is running very slow. For instance, I click a drop down menu, and to populate a list of 39 items takes between 5-7 seconds. And it does not continue loading down the list. If I were to make the mistake of clicking the down arrow to scroll down the list, even just one click, I have to wait for the whole list to populate again. Is there an easy fix for this that my access guy and my computer guy might be missing? Access guy blames it on the computer, computer guy suspects it has something to do with my SSD. (All other computers in our office are traditional hard drives.)

Thanks for you time and help,
    -Mike Jr

not clear on your setup - do you have front ends on each machine linked to a back end on the network? This is what you should have.

Usual reason for slow working on the network is a slow network (perhaps you have a low capacity network adaptor?, network hub is low capacity?) - if you are running the front end across the network as well, it will be even slower. Also the application needs to be 'tuned' to run across a network to transfer as little data as possible - tall and narrow is better than wide and short, connections should be kept open at all times.

Set up properly, the speed of you local hard drive is not really relevant, I would look at the power of your cpu, size of memory and network adaptor.
