    Expression Builder / Validation Rule

I am a self taught access builder so I'm not too familiar with building rules.

    So this is my situation:

I have a table with a field name of Sep Cat, with 5 different records (1-Retire, 2-ETS, 3-Transfer, etc.). Each of these Sep Cat has specific codes that go with them, called RS Cat, and I have put them each on different tables (i.e. RS Cat 2-ETS has record codes of CD, CE, CG, and so forth. And same goes for RS Cat 3-Transfer).

Is there a way that I can create a rule for when a certain Sep Cat is selected, then the RS Cat will pull codes from that category only, or is the easiest way is to just combine all my RS Categories into one table and just select the data from that table?

    Hopefully that wasn't too confusing.

    Thanks for any input!

I think the concept you are describing is Cascading Combos, not a validation rule.

Here's a link to example and another
