unbinding label and textbox controls from each other

I let access create a form for a table. All the controls were bound in a grid and all the field labels and text boxes are also bound to each. I removed all controls from the grid thing with the 'remove' on the arrange tab

however, I can figure out how to free up the label-textbox bindings to each other. I tried a method using 'shift' see below but nothing seems to work. the labels and textboxes have the brown square in the upper left corner.

The only way I know to disassociate a label from control is to select the label and delete then paste back (Ctrl+x, Ctrl+v).

But why disassociate if you can move them individually? (BTW, my squares are grey.)

that is the issue I can't move them independently, in other forms or reports when I would add fields individually,
I can move them independent of each other. I've got a bunch of fields I want to move. wondering if its some property
that is set when you let access build the whole form attached to some table.

If you selected all controls then right clicked Layout > Remove, then each label/control pair should be editable independent of other label/control pairs. And then should be able to move label or control independently with the square box.

thanks for follow up. just to be sure I'm in the same place when you say "layout > remove" that is the 'arrange > move' yes?
When I click the remove, all the label/textbox pairs then have the brown box at the upper left, the brown box
was not there before the remove click. Then the pairs are
independent of the other pairs, but they are still bound to each other, I cannot put more space in between
the label and box by moving only 1, the pair always move together, that is the binding I was trying to cancel.
It seems like the brown box is an indicator of the pair binding to each other.

Yes, it indicates they are associated but also provides means to move them independently. This works for me: click on the brown box and hold down then move mouse, the selected label or control moves independent of its partner.

ok thanks, that works, I was hoping to also be able to use the arrow keys to move, when the room is tight
I like the finer level of control the arrow keys give. But dragging w the mouse is ok
I take it there is no way to just fully disconnect the pairs
