I'm simply trying to select records that have today's date. 3 records have today's date but the field is a date/time field. Shouldn't : Date() return all the records? here is the data inside the date/time field:
11/4/2014 3:30:17 PM
11/4/2014 3:30:20 PM
11/4/2014 3:30:29 PM

No, because of the time component none of the records match Date().
Calculate a field that eliminates the time component and apply filter to that constructed field.
Or try this criteria:
Between Date() And Date()+1
