Display field descriptions in status bar of unbound form

I have an unbound form in which the values entered will eventually get written to a group of related tables. In a bound table the text that is displayed in the status bar on the form when the control has focus is pulled from the corresponding field's description set in the design view.

How can I get these text descriptions to display in the status bar of an unbound form? I am aware of the Control tip text property but do not feel that it is what I want as I will most likely be tabbing through the form, not hovering over it.

    Many thanks in advance

What do you mean by 'bound table'? A bound form?

What do you mean by 'status bar'? The navigation bar at bottom of form or the form caption at top of form? I've never set the field description in table. Appears you are doing something I've never run into.

Have you tried the Status Bar Text property?

Thanks Paul, just did. It sets the application status bar. Not aware of a form status bar.

There isn't one; it's the Application Status Bar. Since this is an Unbound Form, the Controls are not Bound to a Table and hence Access has no idea what to display in the Status Bar. You have to use the Status Bar Text Option (Properties - Other) for each Control and manually enter the text to display for that Control.

OMG. I feel like such a ditz. I looked for a property with such a name but missed it somehow. That's what I get for selecting the "All" tab instead of "Other" on the property sheet. Too many fields to scroll through.

My post was directed at newbieX, who apparently didn't see it.

I know, but I wasn't already aware of it either so found your guidance enlightening.
