Lightbulb How to show the UNC path behind a logon form?

    Hello - thanks in advance.

I've inherited an Access 2003 front-end / back-end database with rudimentary built-in security, and where I want to put the back-end on a different server. I searched the project using ALT-F11 and replaced the hard-coded UNC path in a couple of spots, and also relinked the tables via the Linked Table Manager.

All goes well until I power-down the original server, then I am unable to logon and a message informs me the (old) UNC path is unavailable. I know enough Access to be dangerous!, and I simply cannot find where to change the UNC path that the logon form is looking at.

    Can someone please assist?

    Many thanks,

    Ashley

If you relinked all the tables in the Front-End, and distributed to all users, what is the login screen for? (aside from validating the user)

There is nothing the login can do that uses the UNC path.
Are you sure you relinked ALL tables to the new path?

    Thanks for the reply.

I've relinked all the tables in one instance of the front-end, as I wanted to see if it would work properly before copying it to all the other users. The login screen appears to be only for program module permissions based on the user ID (for example, the store person has access to the inventory, but not the schedule module)

If you want to provide the db files for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
