    Form Area Will Not Resize

There is a form that came with the Student database template named Student Details (the same form that was the subject of my last post regarding a re-query error when entering Design View).

It has a Header and Detail section. The Detail section has several tabbed sub-forms. The layout appears to be Stacked. When opened, it "floats" and can be re-sized like any other window.

The starting size of the form in the Detail sub-forms, however, is much larger than needed to contain all the controls. However, it seems immune to altering in design or layout view (by clicking on the overall boundary lines and moving them in - they just go back to where they were). Even keying new dimensions in the properties reverts back to the original as soon as you tab out of the property field.

Any ideas on how to control/change the starting size?

Also, any idea how to prevent from floating? In File, Options, Current Database, Application Options, Document Window Options I selected Tabbed Documents but this has no effect.

    Thanks!

I am looking at the db and not seeing the behavior you describe. I am not able to resize the Student Details form in Form view. The size is just right for the controls. Did you change properties of the form from the original setup?

The form floats because of Popup property set to Yes. Change it to no and it will be a tabbed document like the Student List form. The db is already set to the Tabbed Documents default.

I found that when the Student Details form is Opened from the Student List, it floats, even though Pop-Up is set to No. It is also not resizable.

When opened directly, though, it the Popup=No does make it work as any other tabbed form. If Popup=Yes, it floats and is resizable.

I surely changed the properties from original, but I re-downloaded the template and it works the same as it does in my database.

Anyway, I can live with this, so don't feel obligated to respond further. I'd rather improve my Test and Grades form!

The form opens like popup in spite of Popup set to No because the macro code opens it in Dialog mode.
