Why does Access randomly display data in a foreign language?

    Hello All,

I noticed that when I made a few changes to one of my queries, the results in my data sheet view were in some sort of Asian looking language. See below. Why is it doing this? I've only been using English with this program and have not changed any of my settings so I'm very confused. Also the other fields are in English. This one field is the only one I'm having issues with. Thanks in advance for the help!

Please post a copy of your database --remove anything private/confidential first.
I don't think Access is doing this randomly. It could be some setting you are changing unknowingly, or it could be some sort of corruption....

I figured out the problem. The data type of the field was set to "memo" in a different table. Thank you for your help!

Actually I did not get this solved. Where can I attach a copy of the database?

I don't think I can attach the database, but I can post screen shots.

If you use the Go Advanced option --see buttons below this post -- and use the Manage Attachment, you should be able to post a file. Preferably a zip version of your database.

Well a colleague of mine figured out what the problem was. He looked through some discussion forums and found some explanations. Apparently it is a strange and intermittent behavior ofaccess. Something to do with Microsoft security updates intermittentlyinterfering with the logic functions in Access. It, evidently, comes andgoes, and only effects “Memo” fields.

I hope this helps others who experience this issue!

Could you post some of the links or sources your colleague is referencing -- it could help others?
