Collect and Update Data via e-mail, pros and cons

I just stumbled upon the "collect and update data via e-mail" option and I can't believe what I am seeing -- this feature may be a momumental discovery for me.

We collect data from our students via a 3rd party vendor (Formstack). I then download the data into excel and upload into Access. This is not efficient nor fun for many reasons.

What are the pros and cons to "collect and update data via e-mail"??? I have Outlook, so that is a plus. My database is not web based, does it need to be? Does this feature make my database less secure?

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Susan

Database does not have to be web-based. I don't think your database is less secure.

However, although I am aware of the feature and have experimented with it, I don't use it.

Be aware it has been removed from Access 2013. Access 2013 will run it if set up in earlier versions but cannot build new.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
