Access 2007 and 2010 on same machine

I am currently working off of Access 2010, but the office I work in has Access 2007. I've run into a lot of issues creating DBs at the house only to have them not open at the office because of the "Unrecognized Format" issues. I got myself a copy of Access 2007 and am wondering how safe is it to install on my Home computer which already contains Office 2010 products including Access 2010. Can I install 2007 and develop DBs without 2010 affecting it?

Multiple versions of Access on same machine doesn't work nice. At least back when I was upgrading from 2003 to 2007 it didn't for me. I don't think any of the Office apps will.

ac2007 and ac2010 can be on the same machine successfully but you do get a coffee break when you switch between the two.

I have 2003 and 2010 on same machine. I used to have 2000 and 2003 - everything was fine as long as you ensured they were in different directories.
With 2003 and 2010, I default to mdb saves, but I can open mdb or accdb, fairly quickly.
When I first put 2010 on this machine with 2003, it looked like Access was doing a reinstall everytime I opened a database. It is not like that now.
I forget what I changed, but I do remember googling and some forums stuff that suggested tweaks.

Interesting. I jump through hoops to keep apps segregated according to which version of Access is opening them. That thing newer versions of Access tries to do to the file when it opens scared me enough to go through the trouble of tracking who has what version FE file. Not sure I feel comfortable risking a tweak in a production environment. Sounds tempting though.

Yes, I'm retired and just do a few little things on forums - I wouldn't start trial and error on production.

I think it was a registry entry, but forget the details.
I have 2 machines --XP and vista home - works the same on both. But it does not try to reinstall each time.
