Rotating header text in a sub-form?

Hi there. I am trying to create a report card system for a school a work at and whilst this is going well I am unable to find a way to rotate the text in the headers of my sub-forms which would make it much easier to view and allow me to get a bit more data in there. I was hoping I could do this and wrap the text. I know I could change them in the reports but for the data entry screen I was hoping I could as well, anyone have any idea how to do this, I have set it as the sub-form being a datasheet which looks like the best way to display the data screen. I did find an vertical option and selected yes and although this changed it in design view it certainly hasn't done anything in form view.

Try with a continuous form with vertical set to yes. This website has a sample of rotated text. Have a look at http://www.lebans.com/rotatetext.htm

Also I can not seem to open the linked database files as they are outdated for my Access 2013 version, anyway around this?

I have set it as the sub-form being a datasheet
Open this form in design view (not as subform) and in the property sheet, change its default view to "Continuous Forms" and labels to vertical text.

The linked database files belong to which version of access ? I have never used Access 2013 but it must be having backward compatibility for earlier versions of access.

Thanks I got this to work but it lost the layout I liked where the headings were at the top of the page as it was but just with the text put on its side. When I made the changes above it changed the entire layout where data was entered top down rather than vertically. Anyway around this or not really?

It also seems that 2013 can not deal with that older file so obviously not fully backward compatible? odd huh

If your controls are grouped together, then change the layout to tabular (Form>Arrange>Tabular). this will provide a datasheet type layout. The headers(labels) will be in the Form Header and textboxes in details section. Set the detail section's height to minimum.

Not only odd, but simply not true. All of Stephen Lebans' apps have v2000 or later editions available, and can be run in later versions. You just have to follow the prompts to update the version or tell Access to leave it in the original version; don't really think it matters for this particular thing.

I think you need to understand that, as you've found out, this is not something that is going to simply involve clicking a button or changing a property or two. Datasheet View Forms are very limited, vis-à-vis how they can be formatted, and changing one to a Continuous View Form is going to take a little work; amrut has given instructions on how to do this fairly painlessly.

As always, in addressing issues of cosmetic, in Access databases, you have to decide whether the labor is worth the end results.

I have just managed to open it. I believe the problem was being caused by an access runtime program which was being used to open it for some reason. Anyway the error was from running it through that, didn't even know this machine had it installed. I am going to look into the instructions amrut has listed and I will then work out just how badly I need this to work if its taking a long time to get working. Thanks for your help I'll let you know how it goes.
