    Microsoft access on mobile devices

I am creating a new database for animal heard management which will basically be an electronic copy of the paper cars for each animal we use at present. there is of course software available to do this type of thing and one that I found offers a PDA type device which you can obviously change the records on the move which would be very useful.

I am creating my own because I have the skills to be able to do so and it would save alot of cost but it got me thinking whether there is any way to input data from a mobile device. PDA devices can be picked up for next to nothing on ebay and we have plenty of IOs and android devices kicking around but i havn't been able to find any apps for either of them that would do the job. Obviously a remote desktop is an option but it's not something i've ever used...

I have not created mobile apps myself and can only guess at a possible solution. If I recall, back in the day there was an Access RT for windows mobile. Some mobile devices use windows OS as a platform. So, in that case it would not be a problem to run your app. I think the hardest part would be to connect to the back end remotely. Access will most likely limit you to SharePoint or you would have to connect to the BE via a VPN or something.

I would start with the mobile development side of things first. See what others are doing to connect to cloud services. Web development is huge nowadays and there are a lot of options.
