    Using Access 2007 VBA for Access 2010 (possible)

    Hello

    I have Access 2010 professional edition on my new desktop. I want to place 2010 on my laptop as well. My laptop currently has Access 2007 Professional edition. I am about to start learning Access VBA programming. I have two highly rated books for Access and Excel 2007 VBA programming. The book for Access is called;

    Access 2007 programming by example with VBA, XML and ASP

    I am eventually going to buy books for the 2010 versions since the 2010 version have new features I hear. I would like to start using the 2007 VBA version since I purchased them back in the summertime. I know that you couldn't do the opposite. You can't use a 2010 VBA book on Access 2007 software.

    Before I uninstall Access 2007 from my laptop for 2010, can you us a VBA 2007 book on Access 2010 software?

    Thanks for any help.

    I don't think VBA and its editor interface have changed significantly. Much programming learned from any version can be applied in any other version. You could use a 2003 book and still learn VBA programming that can be used in 2013 as well as vice versa. There are some things to be aware of for some more advanced coding but the big differences are on the Access side. The GUI is really different between 2003 and 2013 and there are new features and macros have changed.

    A 2007 book should be usable with 2010. There are some relatively minor differences in the ribbon. The 2007 book of course won't cover features new to 2010 but you should still get a good grounding in VBA coding.

    Thanks for the speedy response. I will eventually have to buy books for the 2010 versions to learn their new features. Yes, good basic grounding in Access VBA is what I am looking for.
