Pivot chart legend series name won't change

I have a query I used to create a pivot chart directly. usually when I have a pivot chart I can switch to pivot table view, use the properties dialog box and change my captions. This then changes the caption in the legend. for some reason this doesn't work when a query is right clicked and then under "more forms" I choose pivot chart to create it. When I go to design mode in the chart/form and allow pivot table view, I then go to pivot table view and when i make changes everything I created in pivot chart view is gone.

Ok I have the database, you have 3 queries in it

    Calcs
    Scorecard_ARC_RRC
    Scorecard_ARC_RRC_subfrm

none of these look like pivot queries to me so what exactly are you trying to accomplish?

I don't see a chart anywhere in this example database.

    rpeare,
I clicked on the dbase i attached and a pivot chart pops up immediately. these are pivot charts and in the legend it says "series" instead of the field name.

what do you mean 'I clicked on the database'. When the database opens a form pops up, but there is no pivot chart on that form. The form's name is 'Scorecard_ARC_RRC_subfrm' and it's based on the query of the same name. The query is not a crosstab (or pivot) either. You will have to be more clear as to exactly which object yoiu're talking about and what you WANT it to show vs what it IS showing.
