txtbox moves everything else down

In my report if I have a text box that has 10.1' and the size of the textbox is too short so it appears like this:
10.


1'
The problem is it moves everything else down on the page. I am aware of limiting characters. I have the setting "Can Grow" set to yes, what I want is for the text box to grow horizontally and not vertically, any ideas?

mmmm don't think the text box grows horizontally in other instance that 'feature' might be viewed as chaotic...

don't mean to be snippy...in my experience one must tweak size of textboxes to the largest size needed as part of form / report design.....

Problem is I have other things behind the text box that is covered up by the text box background as far as the text goes. I might have to come up with another idea entirely.
