access 2010 warning cannot open database".

The warning is coming up all of a sudden as I am trying to attach PDF's in the attachment box. Cannot open database ". It may not be a data base that your application recognizes or the file may be corrupt.

I have just started seeing this and do not understand if it is because of too much data in the data base. Does Access have a limit in a split data base as to how much can be stored and is there a way around it.

Could be a bit of corruption. I suggest doing a compact and repair on the front and back.

There are limits but I think I've only ever seen the limit reached once. The link below provides all the info

Access has an overall file size limit of 2G. When the file corrupts it sometimes blows up to almost exactly 2G which can be a bit misleading...... It is somewhat rare for a well designed Access application to ever reach 2G. Seeing a 2G file size is for me a classic indicator that the Front End corrupted. In a case like this it generally is better to simply replace the Front End with a back up Front End ...

If you or any users have been putting the application (forms, reports, etc) into 'design view' using a different version of Access - then this can cause that message. For instance the newer/newest version of Access has features unanticipated in an older version - and so someone using a new version puts the app into design view or compacts it then the older version will often generate the type message you see.
