all. i have a switchboard in my database created by the system but when I click to edit, i get the following: the switchboard manager was unable to find a valid switchboard in this database. What exactly is this looking for?

    1) What version of Access is the file?
    2) What version of Access are you using?
    3) What item are you clicking to edit. from what screen, clicking what?
    4) In your db, Is there a form called "Switchboard"?
    5) in your db, Is there a table called "Switchboard Items"?

Access 2010 for both file and db. There is a form called Switchboard and table called Switchboard Items. I click on Switchboard Manager icon.

Just to verify, it's a .accdb rather than a .mdb, right?

Some things to try in a play copy of the database -

This thread http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=3557 suggests that the switchboard table may be corrupted. The solution it suggests is to export the table and re-import it. You could also try opening a copy of a backup from a few weeks back, and seeing if that works. If so, delete the table and form from the new one and import them from the old one.

This thread http://tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=3558 also says it is corrupt, and says to attempt to open the form and the table independently from the nav pane to see if they work. (These are very old threads)

This site http://custom-designed-databases.com...hboard-part-2/ notes that the default switchboard for Access 2007+ is called "Main Switchboard". I wouldn't expect that a different default name would be enough to make it brainless, but it's something you can try.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
