    Angry Bizzare Multiuser Problem

    Hello,

I am having a problem with a multiuser Access database and I am hoping you can help.

    · There are 5 computers attached to a server with MS Server 2008
    · Access (2007) itself is server based
    · The database file is on the server and it is split into a front and backend.
    · Person A on computer 1 sees 164 records

    · Person B on computer 2 sees only 22 records. This is true even if only one person is accessing the file. Also, the records that person B sees are not in the records that person A sees.
    · Persons C, D, and E on computers 3, 4, and 5 only see the 22 records as well. If person B adds records, persons C, D, and E will see the changes but person A will not.
    · If person A logs onto computer 2, they only see the 22 records.
    · If person B logs on to computer 1, they can only see 22 records.
    · If the administrator logs onto the server, they see 164 records but not the other 22.
    · I have checked permissions for all the users and computers and they are all the same.
    · The users only have local profiles not global profiles
    · There are no other Access database files anywhere on the server
    · There are no database files saved locally
    · I have tried copying the front-end directly to the desktop instead of using a link to the database but that has not worked either.

Do you have any home grown security built into your database? (i.e. is a person logging in to your database with their own personal user name/pw) and are there any security restrictions that you've built into your database based on that local log in?

Are the records mutually exclusive, in other words, are there, in total 186 records each group of people is only seeing a portion of the data or are the 22 records a subset of the 164 records person A is seeing?

Have you looked at the linked table manager on person A's computer vs Person B through E. Even though the TABLE may be named the same (it's alias) it may be linking to a local copy of the database as opposed to the table that's on the server. If you look at the linked table manager it should show you a path to the database/table to which it's connecting.

Not sure if I am right or not but is everyone using the same front end that resides on the server.

If so then put a copy on each user's computer. Front ends should not be shared.
