I use Access 2010 which is linked via ODBC to an informix Database. But the Access database that houses these links is saved in a 2003 format. I have to run odd queries that are requested. Normally just design the query, run it, copy the results into excel and do what I need with the data from there.
On several occasions, when I try to copy the query results in order to past them in excel, the Copy process hangs. Where the Copy in Progress status bar just hangs with only a sliver of progress, and just sits there.
I can't figure out what the hold up is. It happens on several different queries. The one I have open at the moment is very simple. It ran in the matter of a few seconds and returned around 14,000 records (3 columns per record). But when I try to copy the results, it just hangs. It took seconds to run the query and see the results, but it's been trying to "Copy" for almost 20 minutes now.
This happens with other queries too, and I can't seem to find a cause or even a pattern. If I try to export to excel, the process will take just as long. For example, this query which when I simply run and get results back in seconds. If I tried to Export, it still takes almost 1 hour to export the records to excel. The only difference is, instead of "Copy in Progress" bar, it says "Outputting Object" and it still hangs just like the copy.
Any suggestions here?
