Help Designing a Frac Tank Rental Database

I am trying to design a Frac tank rental database for my uncles company. I have never used access before but was told that this software could do what i need it to do. basically the company owns frac tanks that they rent out to other comanies, they also deliver these tanks as well as moving tanks for other companies. I would like to be able to set up a database that will let me input the companies we work for, the tanks we own and their serial numbers and the type of tank it is and, where the tanks are at any given moment (we service all of new mexico and texas). For our tanks we usually rent then out at a 3 day minumum cost plus a flat rate per day after the first 3 days. We have different types of tanks that cost different amounts. I dont need to track employees or anything just the tanks themselves and which companies have the tanks and where the tanks are.

    Is this even possible?

    Thanks for any help.

Yes, what you are wanting to do is possible. Here is a good starting point for designing and building you database.

Learning Access is not as intuitive as learning Excel. It will take some pain and suffering but once you get the concept, the rest is really fun.

good luck and post back when you get stuck.

I have some experience in this area. Feel free to contact me for details - gary.moody@majellagt.com

Have you thought about capturing the on/off rental info? Geo-Location of the tanks? When your renter calls and says he/she is done with the tank, are you able to get there that day to ship the tank or does it sit there a few days? Is the renter actually using the asset during this time? Do tanks ever get "lost"? How do you quickly find this asset? Lots to discuss.

    Looking forward to talking.

    Gary
