Trouble with more than 1 person in the database

I created a database for tracking internal training. The database is on a shared drive within our firewall. The problem is when one person is in the database (just making entries, no modifications to anything) and someone else can't get in. I have received an error that it is in a "Admin State" and another will get in but get a message that entries can't be made.

    What's up?!

The db should should be split, with one back end file holding the tables and each user having a copy of the front end on their machine. Is this you rest up?

No, it is not split, however, I never had this problem before with any other database that I have set up.

Have any of these ever suffered from coruption? If not, then perhaps you could give us your prediction for this weeks lottery number because clearly you are a lucky person. Just because you have managed to cross the road with a blindfold before dosen't mean that it's OK to keep doing it.
Some people would say that ALL DB's should be split. If it has more that one user it is a must do.

I have never split my database, and have 2 users using the database; and I have not ever had any corruption. Even though, per your post, there are some people who say that ALL DB's should be split, surely there are the rest who are not saying anything or believing that it can be ok. Can you point to some things to check for that would be an issue when 2 people are using a database at the same time?

Maybe I have been lucky the past 7 years, but I really should look into this if this is a major issue I was unaware of. Your statement of it being a 'must do' type of setup has me wondering now, why do those of who haven't split the database not having any issues, "yet?".

And no, I couldn't pick the lottery numbers, so I don't have that kind of luck.

Please see:http://www.accessmvp.com/TWickerath/.../multiuser.htm By Tom Wickerath MVP

I have read too many times of corruption associated with multi users using a single db. Goggle "why split a database" and you will see no end of things showing the benefits. It's so easy to do. Access even has a wizard for it.
