Serious Access Error, How to Recover?

    Hi All,

How do I recover my database with the following error message?

"Microsoft office access has detected that this database is in an inconsistent state"
I cannot open the database what so ever and the size is now 2GB, size compacted is 400mb.

I am using Access 2007, but the database I created is in 2003 format.

    Thanks

Is this a split db? Are you the only user? With the database closed, is there still .ldb file in the folder? Delete the ldb. Does db open now?
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

I am the only user, not split database as yet, and there is no LDB file visible in the folder.

Is the backup file created? Can you open it? If so, is everything there? Eliminate the corrupt version. Rename and use the backup.

Can you open a new project and import everything from the original?

Is there any code that runs when the project opens? Hold shift key as opening.

With no Access files open, check Task Manager, is there still an Access process running?

    Review these

Serious Access Error, How to Recover?

    Hi June7,

I was unable to do anything with the database, so it is dead.
I did find a backup I was luckly enough to open, but it was missing a couple of new forms, so these needed to be created, so I am now back to a good working database again.

The moral of this story is "..Backup you database and data for such times as these"
I was luck there was no data loss, I import 12 data files everyday from a website, this database is more for reference only!!

    Thanks
