    *.laccdb file stuck

I am trying to update the back-end of my database by importing new data into a table...but I keep getting an error message that says Access can't overwrite the table. So, I checked the front-end to see who was in the database, and sent out an email for everyone to log out. I waited and waited, then went to each workstation to verify that the five people still on the list logged out. When I got back, I checked the *.laccdb, and it said the same five users were still in the database.

So, I went into the database, reopened the *.laccdb to verify that I was now on the list (I was) then I logged out and rechecked the file...but it still said I was in the database.

    I rebooted, no luck.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you,

    Jess

Does each user run their own local copy of fe? Make sure they don't have any Access projects open and check their Task Manager to see if any MSACCESS.EXE processes still running. If any then delete from Task Manager.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Local copy? Welllll...the DB sits on a server and I put a shortcut on each user's desktop...

Is it the fe or the be that is locked? Did you check each user's Task Manager as described?

I manage a split database with multiple users by installing a copy of the fe on each users C: drive, just like installing MS Office or any other application. Review http://forums.aspfree.com/microsoft-...ue-323364.html

This is recommended by advanced developers to improve performance of the fe.

It was the FE that was locked. I actually waited until each user left for the day - they have to log off of their machines when they leave - and this solved my problem. Thank you for the link - I'll have a look.
