    Database Access Speed

I'm accessing my MS ACCESS 2010 database via a VPN connection. The accessibility of the database and working on it is however very slow. Any suggestions on how to improve the speed of access??? Thanks

If you are using the Internet then you will probably never be satisfied until you use something like Citrix.

if the WAN is inbetween the FE & BE - - there is no solution if the WAN is too slow.

you can put the FE & BE together at the home office - so that your vpn into it is just sending screen information to you. Access will work ok because it is all local. You will have latency in the delay of screen movement via the VPN - - and once again that is dependent upon the VPN/WAN speed.

finally you can consider using the vpn to copy the BE to your laptop or remote PC........and then work entirely locally - which of course would be very fast. But you must think thru cautiously whether or not you can enter or change data. It is fine just looking at data. But to enter/change data requires copying that local BE back to the home office - and if other people are working in it that would be a disaster.

    hope it helps....
