    Query performance on different computer

I have an Access 2007 database with ODBC links to an Oracle database. I have developed a query to retrieve data for a report, and this query runs in 5-10 seconds on my machine. I issue the access database to other users in the company, and some people have to wait upwards of 5-6 minutes for the same exact query to return data, and others don't. Everyone is running on the same computer/configuration as these are corporate issued computers. Those users with the delayed response experience it each and every time.

Anyone have any ideas about what can be causing the slow response for certain users?

    Thanks!

if the machines are truly the same hardware, and using the exact same Access front end - - then it is a network/security issue.

not sure if your path is inefficient from other physical locations or security varies or what....

your ideal trouble shooting approach for credibility with networking staff - is to have a laptop computer...and move from location to location - noting the difference....

    Try this

You did not mention if you created a new Access file for your program once you were done working on it.

My experience has been hit or miss but if you create a new (blank) Access file and import EVERYTHING into it from your current program file, ditch the old program file (somewhere you can bring it back from until you know this all works), and distribute the new program file, it should be sped up for everyone.

Apparently, if different versions of program are accessing the same data Access HATES IT. You can't even make minor changes to the structure or people start having problems.

    Hope that helps!
