    Cannot edit tables at random

Today I was trying to work on my database and certain tables would randomly not allow me edit any of the fields. I wouldn't receive an error message it would just make a sound and nothing would change (adding, changing or deleting).

Later those tables would suddenly start working again and others would stop working. And also sometimes I'd be working on a table, change a few values and then it would lock me out abruptly. Just seconds after I'd just changes some fields.

    What's going on here??

    Hi,

can it be you're working in a multi-user environment and you're locked out by another user?
Other possible reasons (although most of them would produce an error message if they're not suppressed): you're working with a snapshot (check the data source of the form you're using to update the tables), you're update would interfere with the referential integrity imposed on the relation between two tables, check validation rules, check index properties, ...

I am working in a multi-user environment but I've already confirmed that no other user is accessing the database at the same time as me. I'm not working with a snapshot and I'm too new to know what referential integrity, validation rules or index properties are. Would you mind enlightening me?

    Thank you.

If you are trying to edit data in a query you may have too many tables on that query
    to allow for edits.
