automatically update club members age group

Hi all! Could someone help me with this please.



I have a sports club, it's members are divided into age groups,

ie. under 10's, under 13's, under 16's and 16+.

My question - is it possible to program my access db so that it automatically changes an individuals age group on his/her DOB?

ie. when a 9 year old turns 10 years of age the 'age group' field in the members table would automatically show that he is now in the under 13's age group .

It's certainly possible to do this, but perhaps the age group is not something that should be stored as a value in the database.

Instead, calculate the age group on an as-needed basis; i.e as part of a query which supplies the data for a form or report.

If you don't mind sharing some of your data, I could take a look and probably come up with something that would meet your needs.

I received your database, I'll have a look at it.

One question: in your club, does a participant stay in the same age group where they start for an entire year/term/session (whatever), or do they instantly change age groups on their birthday?

If you use the year/term/session model, I'll need to know the duration of whatever it is you use.

They instantly change age groups on their birthday, and are also automatically down-graded two or three judo grades at the same time.
