Table help

I have a table called referrals and a table called participants. not all referalls become participants ie both tables have name, address, dob and so on. I have linked the tables but i want to have the info from referrals automatically fill in the participant info. is that possible or am i just doing it a stupid way?

Why not have a separate field (eg Status ) to indicate whether the "person" is
a) a referral or
b) a participant
and have all the details in 1 table?

What is the business difference in a referral vs a participant?

Have you tried to write a 2 line definition/description of these things? You may find when you put it to paper that something specific makes a referral a participant.
Only you can tell if it makes sense in your "BUSINESS".

People are reffered to a program but can be denied for various reasons, but i think i understand your explanation as i also have those who have finished. hmmmm, will see what i can do.

Do you have a table for Reasons_For_Denial? Programs?
Do you have a data model for your "application"
