error when trying to work with database

    Hello,

I imported a database from an excel spread sheet. However, after a query or two I keep getting an error in anything I do. that this might not be a file that my system recognizes. I get this whenever I try to fix the file, to upload a new file (even a different one) or save a new query or even assign a primary key.. Click image for larger version.

I'm not sure what I did to cause it to break like this.

Create a new DB and import the objects into the new DB.
    Then compact and repair.

DO NOT store attachments/pictures in the db, that will bloat it. The odd picture is OK, like company logo. Plus importing and deleting records bloats access as well.
If you are doing the latter you will need to C&R regularly.

The source file is 2GB or the db you're trying to import from is at 2GB? Or both? The source is an Access database file?
If the source file is a 2GB Access database and it's just records (no forms/reports/queries) then compacting may not help. As WGM says, if it's full of attachments you need to get them out of the source.

Other considerations. Excel does not make a good database and if you just imported it chances are you have a lot of text fields and not enough tables. So if you are not familiar with the concept, Google ‘database normalisation’
