think you'll have to wait a few hundred years
I don't know what you mean by run as administrator? Do you mean open exclusive? (which means anybody else can only open it as readonly)
I have run MS Access as Administrator many times. It is usually when I install software and it says that I have insufficient permissions to install. Then I become Administrator or super user as I would do in Linux.
I have got there in the past by right clicking on the MS Access 2010 shortcut icon, while at the same time holding down the left shift key. It did not work this time. I got no option to run this app as administrator.
In the past I stated off the process by going to the start box and typing in "cmd". Then I right clicked on it and the box (and getting a choice to run as administrator) is now opened. I then type in
net user administrator /active:yes
at the command line. From there I must start MS Access 2010 as administrator to install Vtools.
This last step must be done or Vtools will fail to install claiming the user has insufficient permission.
So I will start MS Access 2010 as administrator and from there I can install Vtools. I tried many times in the last 24 hours to start MS Access 2010 as administrator by holding down the left key and right clicking on the MS Access 2010 shortcut.
This time it did not work and that is the reason for this post.
How do I start MS Access 2010 a administrator. I must be doing something wrong.
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The administrator referred to is the windows administrator and is to enable you access the registry. If you are on a company machine the chances are they have disabled your administrator rights - so you would need to contact your IT dept to either do the install for you or to grant you administrator rights. How do I start MS Access 2010 a administrator. If you are on a personal machine then you need to log on as administrator - I've not tried your method, but if it worked in the past it should still work.
I will try what you say. I may have made a mistake in trying my method when I tried it yesterday. It just seems so easy. But maybe I made a mistake.
Thanks for your input.
