Query changes are vanished !! Very strange

I have a report. I go to report properties, and open the record source to reach the query on which the report is made. I make some changes to the query. When I close the query it asks me to keep the change or not and I click yes. But when I close the report it doesn’t ask me to keep or discard the changes. Then when I reach to report query again and I see all the changes I have done are gone. This is very strange. What is the problem?

    As answered elsewhere:

I recall a bug that required you to hit Enter or Tab after closing the query design grid, to move to the next property in the properties window. If you didn't, changes weren't saved.

@Paul: very interesting - never experienced it. If you clicked yes to save the query and then once back at the report, what happens if you save the report before closing without relying on a prompt to do so?

I'm not sure I did that explicitly (I'd be more likely to close the report to save it, then test via the UI). If I recall, it was with 2007, and it may have gotten fixed by a patch or SP. It was a repeatable thing though. After modifying SQL and clicking yes to save, focus is left in the Record Source property at the end of the SQL. If I didn't hit Enter or Tab to get off that property, it didn't save. It's a habit now to hit Enter after working on the SQL. If I get time I'll test to see if it still happens, though I might have to find a VM with 2007.
