How to link Access Queries to a excel data base.

Hello, I am trying to find out how to have a access file linked to a excel data base.
I have a large excel data base with approximately 9000 entries, and what i need is to have access when opened to read the excel data base file for and updated info or new entries

and then give me a querie form with the data from the excel file.
Is this possible and if so how would i do it?

    Thanks

an excel spreadsheet is not a database

If you are trying to open an access query from excel:

If you are trying to open an excel file from Access just link the spreadsheet. Whenever a change is made on the spreadsheet you should see updated information in your access version of the sheet.

maybe you ought to explain why you need this hybrid system instead of doing everything in access or everything in excel. As you've discovered there are many issues with trying to use functions from one application to the other.

Maybe importing the data from Excel into Access would be beneficial. If a user in access views the data in the Excel file, other users will not be able to edit the Excel file. This may be beneficial in your circumstance, however you will seemingly still have the issue with the hyperlinks.

Mainly i need the double program set up for security reasons, i need to have one base excel file with all the data, and the second access file so that other people open querie only the data they need, but have it so it is always upto date.

Wouldn't they have access to the Excel data if you connect Access to Excel?
