On some new computers I have found that file extension accdr is not recognised even though runtime is installed.
Changing extension to accde will open the file but some queries fail.
Has something in Access changed? How do I cure the problem?

Shot in the dark, but make sure the extension is registered in Windows. Right click on the file and select Open with...
I tried that but could find no ACCDR on the computer. I have had this problem on two new computers. Installing Access 2010 Runtime cures the problem. Looking into file associations for 2016 runtime in "Set Program Associations" there is no accdr!
From a Google search: Try renaming the file to .ACCDB. That should restore full functionality.
It is a commercial application and I don't want to upset the customers. ACCDB might work but the file is a compiled ACCDE. On two new computers with Access Runtime 2016 the original ACCDR refused to open. One required to know what to open with but could not find anything which would open ACCDR. The other went to Downloads and asked to open or install, then did nothing. My 2016 Access runtime does not have ACCDR extension. Very strange!
From what I can get from a web search, an ACCDR file is just a renamed ACCDB file, and renaming it back to ACCDB will restore full editing capability.
Check this link (one of many): http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fileex...accdr-file.htm
What I am suggesting you try is to rename your ACCDR file back to ACCDB, then if you can open it and update it as normal, then you can recreate an ACCDE (not ACCDR). In my opinion, customers should be using ACCDE anyway, since it is more secure from a modification viewpoint.
The file is an accde renamed to accdr. accdr is for the runtime and ought to be recocognised by the runtime.
