    Templete Help

I am looking for a templete I can mod as needed. My end result will be a truck check in/out database to add to my main Tow management database.
Please remeber all the things I am looking for is end result and for the templete doesn't need to have all of: List all items the company owns, show what we paid for it, what we will charge a driver if it is lost, show who has what truck assigned to them, what items and how many are on the truck, the cost of all items on that truck, be able to easly change the cost/price of each item and have it update on all the trucks.

I know it seems like I'm asking for alot, but I'm quickly learning more and more about access and am able to mod databases.

A common mistake people make is to implement too many things at the same time. I do it myself. It is difficult to isolate different functions of an application or database and concentrate on building a solution for a single function. I recommend you start by isolating something and work on that, only. For instance, managing assets that are only Vehicles. More specifically, vehicles that are trucks and only those that are tow trucks. Perhaps maintenance or the compliance department has something on hand (even if it is on paper) that can get you started.

    ternick,

Here is a tutorial from RogersAccessLibrary that will help you with setting up a database and tables.
What you learn by working through the tutorial can be used with any database. Spend 30-45 minutes to do the tutorial and you will learn.

    Good luck.

WOW. What you are asking for in a multiple warehouse inventory control and asset management template. I really doubt there are any good free ones available. What you are asking for is really part of the core functions of higher end accounting systems.

It is not asking a lot f you are willing to pay for it.

For free: One of the closest templates I have seen to having some of the components you will need are in the Access 2007 and later Northwind Trader sample database. Also look at some of the other Business templates that are available with Access 2007 and later when yu create a new database.

Reality check: Inventory control, is very difficult to program using any software development platform. Multiple warehouse is even harder. In your case each truck is basically a warehouse. That is why I an saying you need a multiple warehouse inventory control system.
