    queries on queries

    dear all
i have created a family history details of about eight families for five generations, in excel.
but i want to do it in access 2013 since it is relational database.
should i create a table for each generation and also query
in that case how to create link to each table.
in the tables fields and field names are the same.
a consolidated report is all i want to have with the following details:

    generation 1: name wife's name
    generation 2: Names of children
    1
    2 etc
generation 3: name of the children of generation 2 (1) etc

it seems i should normalise data and make UNION.

but i am stuck here. please help me to solve my problem.

    thanks

Normally you wouldn't create a table(s) per generation. What happens if you want to add a generation (or two), then you have to add more tables, create more reports/forms, etc? You would have the data in a table(s), but within that table specify what generation, or who the parents are or something so all generations are in the same tables and your queries/forms/reports filter the data to show the generation which you want to reference.
