Check Box not locking in query mode (Access 2013)

I have created a check box to signify an action on a form. I cannot get the check box to lock when I go from edit to query mode.
The check box continues to stay editable. Can someone guide me to documentation explaining the setting or code I have to configure to make this happen?

Any help is appreciated ............ thanks

What do you mean by 'edit to query mode'? By 'query mode' do you mean Filter By Form? The data is not being edited in Filter By Form.

The form is in Query Only Mode but the check box, which should not allow a change, still lets me edit it.

I don't know what 'Query Only Mode' is. I did a web search and all the hits were related to Oracle.
