HELP! Access forms + other promlems

    Hey guys,

My father needs a microsoft access database for our motel. He isn't sold on it but I am trying to make him see the technological benefits of one as i've read online. Im no expert but I am willing to pay. I've googled the basic and the entities of what our motel has to offer. I can't get the reports and forms to write what I want. If you are confident and can do to soon it let me know!

I might be able to help but this sort of thing takes time. How much time do you think a developer should spend building the application and what operations should it manage? What do you use now for operations?

Perhaps it would be best if you use the "entire" forum to help you finish the application you started. This way you do not have to pay anything up front and you get to learn along the way.

I am going to take a wild guess you found a template online and are struggling to get it to fit your needs. I would certainly provide consulting services to someone that wanted help learning how to program and build databases. I don't think that is what you are asking for. I would certainly build a custom application for a business. That is what I do. But, I do not think that is what you are asking for either. For me, a template is OK to demonstrate something. But, beyond that, they are not much use for me. It would take me too long to try and make a template work compared to building something from scratch. It would not feel right charging to fix something that is not suitable to start with.

What I am talking about is different from an application that is already in place and managing data for operations. I am referring to grabbing something off the shelf for a greenfield project and the off the shelf solution does not suit the needs.

If you could assist me that would be awesome! I am trying to learn, but I am leaving to go back to my family on Monday, so i won't see my father for a while. I could send it to him but i would rather like to show to him.

To start with I've done almost all the things i've wanted except. I cannot get the forms to work as proper as i wanted. I want a user to use the form in which he will start interacting with the interface to look at the room available and then put in the credentials required to make the payment go through. I can explain this in detail in skype or TS. I am awake all night. I can't get the customer ID to go into one form and print in another. I've been looking online for an entire day and Im starting to get impatient and frustrated.

Lastly I want to print all the information gathered into a report of invoice in which I'll print for the customer.

Also, I don't know how to set up this specific query, in which the database will make sure no duplicates are occurring in booking a room.
