Adding a Database Password

IN my database i have a main data database and several front end databases. When I use the Password Encrypt feature to password protect my main data, I get a "wrong password" while trying to relink the tables using the MS Access Linked Table Manager. Do I need to re-establish all of the links to all the tables since now there is a password?
