    Report Bug

In MS Access 2000 I have created a query of a mailing list with aging accounts recievables, and there are no problems when I look at the list of records the query pulls.

However, when I link that query to a report, it duplicates the first client name placing it on pages 1 and 2, but not the details, so from page 2 to the end the details of aging invoices are not containing the correct company name at the top of the page.

Is there a way to make it stop doing that, did I do something wrong, or am I going to have to just continue to enter one client in to the select query and the go to the report and only print page 1. The latter is very time consuming as I am sure you can imagine.

Please reply to ttalbot@canem.com if possible, and thanks in advance.

It sounds like a grouping issue. Do you have grouping siwtched on - what are the settings?

Sorting and Grouping is as follows:

Customer# - ascending, group header & footer yes, group on each value, group interval 1, keep together no

Job# - ascending, group header & footer no, group on each value, group interval 1, keep together no

    Invoice# - same as job#

Inv Date - same as job#

In reality It only needs to group by customer#, and then sort ascending invoice date, not sure how or why the others ended up in there. I look forward to your input.

Is it a complicated report? If not I would probably start again. Even if it is complicated I would create a new report with the correct grouping etc and then copy the design across.

So, in the Access wizard go through the steps of creating a report based on your query but do not select any kind of grouping or sorting. When it is finished add the grouping you require and check it's working. then compare to your non-working report.
