    Grandparents or?

I'm thinking of a database for purchase orders. The complex items purchased will average about 30 per order, but have around 1,000 complex items/assemblies to choose from. These assemblies are created from a master item list of about 5,000 items from a total of about 50 vendors. BIG point: I'm totally new to databases but do complex things in excel. I am trying to envision the best/most economic relationships structure, and can't see individual tables for 1,000 different assemblies. What is a better strategy?
