Tools missing from Arrange tab in Layout view

Me big dum nooby, trying to insert a new column into a form I'm designing. I've found an excellent beginner's tutorial, but my copy of Access does not show tools for rows & columns, merge/split or move in the Arrange tab, as per the pictures. Is there a setting I'm missing, or are these tools context-sensitive and I'm doing it wrong, or ?

I virtually never use Layout view so I just checked.

Also, not getting those features in Design view either.

Don't think I've ever used any of them.

Ah hah! They are only available for grouped controls - controls that are in a Layout group. I never use Layout grouping.

The Create form wizard will use Layout grouping.

If you want to create a grouping, select controls, right click > Layout > make choice (same steps to ungroup controls).

You not only gave me a quick and helpful answer, you actually took the trouble to find out how to do it first. Speaking as someone who has gotten too many "Works fine for me" and "Use Google Chrome" comments in a help forum, that's behavior bordering on saintly. Thank you very very much.
