Setting up a report much like tables in MS word?

    Hi there,

I have created a large student assessment database with 15 related tables. This is all working great but I am struggling with creating a report. I want to create a report with a few word like tables in and populate these much like I was doing a mail-merge. Is this possible? If not I guess I have to create a query that can then mail-merge in word but concerned with 15 tables this would be tricky and also super slow. Any thoughts? I am using Access 2013.

Not sure what you mean by "Word like". Maybe you mean multiple subreports.

Oh by word like I mean Microsoft word styled, as in tables entered into a document which can be populated by mail-merge tags. Sorry I was trying to differentiate from the term table due to its obvious use in Access. I need to print out report cards for students and want their assessment results and attendance figures populated into a table (as in a table you can make and populate in microsoft word). For example:

    Writing
    First Second Final
    Overall Writing Score
Writes independently on a variety of topics
Re-reads own writing to share, to revise, and to edit

Need an understanding of data structure. First, Second, Final are field names?

Quite possibly will need subreports. 15 tables is a lot of relationships for one report.

If you want to provide db for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post. Identify objects involved.

I need to know more about data structure.

The 15 tables are for each assessment area (Listening, Writing, Mathematics, etc)?

First, Second, Final are fields in each table?

Are the fields in the 15 tables identical?

Hi there and sorry for the delay,

I have decided to not create a report for this but to create a query and build a mail-merge through Word to create the reports and its working great now. I thought it would be super slow but luckily it seems to be running OK and as the report card template has already been made in word it has saved a lot of time.

I did try and create a sub -report which I managed, well a simple one and I am sure that it would work but this ended up so much easier for me. I really appreciate your help though and offer to look at my system, really appreciate your help with this one.
