    combo box

    Hi,

I posted this question before but was unable to follow up on the reply, then I think the thread went stale.

I have a form for looking at student records which loads from a query after selecting student "status" (e.g. active, inactive, on leave, Graduate, etc.). This form is used by multiple new users and the cells are open for editing and adding new records. When we use the search function by making the LASTNAME cell active, sometimes it gets over written by the search entry.

Is there a way to either make this field directly searchable ...or...can I create a combo box to display all students returned from the query (e.g. active) and be able to select a student and have the record for that student to appear or load?

I'll try to attach a DB but I have been having trouble. I am alo not good with SQL so I tend to do everything from a query builder

    Thanks and take care,

    Daryl

Can use the intrinsic right click short cut menu to search with bound controls. Otherwise, controls for input of search/filter criteria should be UNBOUND. Then options to use those inputs are:

    1. parameterized query as the form RecordSource, review http://www.datapigtechnologies.com/f...tomfilter.html

    2. construct filter criteria string and set form Filter property, review http://allenbrowne.com/ser-62code.html
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
