    I need help!

Hey, y'all, thanks for listening. Generally, I'm a novice but I'm generally pretty good at solving computer problems, but I feel like I definitely need expert advice with this problem:

My friend and I have created an access database and both need to be able to modify it without passing it back and forth via email, or even worse, via a flash drive.

It would be nice if we could both go to a site, put in a password, and just work on the database. But, I've done a lot of Googling and what not and am getting a lot of conflicting answers. Plus none of them really answer this question.

Is this even possible? What's the easiest solution? The file should be no larger than 50 megs. Thank you so much for any advice you can offer.

I'm afraid you have a problem that has no decent solution. Your web site would need a "check out" and "check in" feature as well.

    NTC,
It looks to me like email would work as well as the site you suggested and not cost anything.

you're right, just threw that out there - admittedly just 2 locations isn't the strongest need - - - its alot more at issue when there are more locations - and I think AccessTables.com is oriented to corporate/business rather than casual users....

email of course is requiring sequential use of the db exclusively - and maybe that's not feasible.

probably should implement replication - then have one user be the replica with periodic syncs - - still perhaps a self described novice probably is going to find the replication feature a hassle (no offense intended to poster) ..

just like a vpn approach, or a web site, or AccessTables.com, or emailing the db back & forth - - just view them as tools out there and let people choose the tool the works for them. all are trade offs between $$ and features....

Hmm...I may be reading something into the OP's post but I got the feeling they were both modifying the forms. That's why I felt it was a serial operation. Maybe the OP will post back with more details.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
