    Access 2010 and XP

    Hi everybody,

I have almost 10 access 2010 network databases running in company network in 67 computers. All of them were working without any problem until beginning of August 2013. Then almost all XP operating system computers starts giving problem. Database starts running very slow - means it takes a lot of time in start up, changing screen and updating fields. All other Window 7 and Window 8 operating system computers are running without any problem. I have tested the same program at same time in two different computers and find only XP computers getting very slow.

My question : Is this a common problem? Do I need to change all XP computers for Access 2010 database? Is there any settings gone wrong, because there was no problem before. I have split databases, back end in the network and front end in users computer. Those users who has XP in their computer (almost 8 computers now), cannot operate the database.

    Appreciate your valuable help.

    Thank you in advance

This page http://www.utteraccess.com/forum/Acc...-t1968255.html suggests decompiling and recompiling on an XP machine, and if that fails, then reinstalling Access 2010 on the failing machines.

I would also note that MS & Access are notoriously NOT backwards compatible, so you'd best do (or at least thoroughly test) your development on an XP machine.

Thank you very much for your help. I have not tried this yet, but will try soon and post back the result. Is there any other direct MS Office helpline where I can contact whenever I have problems like this?

Thank you and God Bless You.

I believe it is simply an issue of RAM. That is one of the primary differences I have found between an XP machine - which often has less than 1G versus a Win7 machine that often has 4G or more.....

Interesting idea, NTC. That wouldn't seem to account for the sudden performance change in August, though.

It does make me wonder about the word "almost" in the OP's line
"Then almost all XP operating system computers starts giving problem"
If decompile/recompile doesn't work, I'd take a hard look at the XP machines where Access 2010 was working.

    XP with Access 2010

Thank you very much for your help Dal. Today I tried your idea and modified some of my main menu forms in my databases (which remains open all the time during the database is open). I had some timer events coded at different events, which I was using to close the front ends whenever I need ( I mean for emergency shut down, maintenance or program crash etc). Then as you said, I use a XP SP3 machine to compile the programe. Now it works like champ in all our machines including XP, Window7 and Window8.

Thank you once again and God Bless You.
